Catching up in 2015

February 11, 2015

Hello everybody! I cannot believe that I am writing the first Shannon Eventing blog of 2015 in February. Time has simply flown here at Mushill Farm, and it feels like our last event of the year was a week ago and Christmas was yesterday.

We have had a busy time here on the Shannon Eventing yard. I have three lovely students now working for me-Mollie, Bex and Amber. They are all cracking on with their own horses to compete this year, as well as helping out with our fantastic liveries and young horses too.

I have the pleasure this year of again competing Quality Purdey for Claire Poole, as well as Kilcannon Crunch for the Shannon Eventing Group. Both these fabulous mares will compete at CIC and CCI three star and I'm very excited for both of them to have a successful year. As You Will, owned by Rebecca Graham, will also be campaigned by myself after a brilliant year last year, he will move up to two star.

There are exciting young horses here at Shannon Eventing as well, in the shape of Callie, owned by George Sharples, and Bruno and Gangster (Al), who are projects to bring on and sell. They are all going out weekly and growing up so fast-it's hard to keep up!

As we are well into February now, every weekend involves training shows and every week involves lessons-both teaching and being taught! Our eventing schedule starts with Oasby, a pretty local event to us, and from there we are out at an event at least once a week through mid-June. I always have to catch my breath when we look at the season plan before it gets under way as it looks too monumental to undertake, but we always survive!

Keep checking in to our website for updates throughout the season, although Lauren is also going to be guest blogging for Horse Scout, a new online equestrian network that is growing very quickly. It is an essential tool for any professional or yard to network and develop their business, so make sure to check out their website at for exclusive insights into the goings on of our event team and yard. Until next time...! X
